Ways To Prepare For A Reiki Session In Your Home

If you're interested in a reiki session, you have a few options to consider. While you can visit a reiki practitioner who operates out of a local clinic, another option is to have this individual visit you in your home. There are several advantages of getting a reiki session in your home. This is a therapy in which it's important for the client to be able to relax, and some people find that they can relax more deeply when they're in familiar surroundings. If you've scheduled a reiki session in your home, here are some ways to prepare for it.

Take Care Of Your Body

There are several simple things that you can do to take care of your body before your reiki session begins. Unlike getting a massage, you'll remain fully clothed for your appointment. You want to be comfortable, so choosing apparel in which you can lie down in comfort will be important. You should also eat well in advance of your appointment. It's common to spend at least part of the session lying on your stomach, and you don't want to feel full and potentially uncomfortable when you're in this position. Additionally, using the bathroom shortly before the practitioner arrives will allow you to relax more deeply.

Eliminate Potential Distractions

You don't want anything to interfere with the relaxation that you'll experience during your reiki session. Some clients can fall asleep while their practitioner gently touches their body, and this can be a pleasant sensation. In advance of your appointment, you should eliminate anything that might distract you. Choose a room for the session that is quiet; a room at the rear of your home may be better than one at the front of your home if you can often hear traffic from the latter location, for example. You should also unplug your house phone and set your electronic devices to "Do Not Disturb."

Do Something Relaxing

While your reiki session itself will be deeply relaxing, it can be useful to find something relaxing to do in advance. This will ensure that you're in a relaxed state when your practitioner arrives. Some people may enjoy reading for a while; performing some gentle yoga may be another idea that appeals to you. It's important to minimize activities and interactions that might cause you stress. For example, this isn't the time to argue with your child about doing their homework. Committing to a short period of relaxation will help to get your body ready for your reiki session.
