Easy Tricks To Help Your Young Child Deal With Their Seasonal Allergy Symptoms

Having allergies as an adult can be annoying and inconvenient, but having allergies as a young child can be downright miserable, especially because your child may not understand why this is happening to them. Here are a few easy tricks that you can use to easy your child's allergy symptoms and give them a little relief.

Provide Lots Of Water

Suffering for seasonal allergies can leave your child dehydrated. Make sure that you keep a water bottle on hand, and encourage your little one to take frequent small drinks out of it throughout the day. This will help keep their body hydrated and strong as they fight back against their allergies.

Run A Warm Bath

When your child is all stuffed up, a great way to provide them with some relief is to let them breathe in some warm steam. The easiest way to do this is by running a warm bath for your child and allowing them to play in the water for some time. During peak allergy season, try to draw a warm bath for your child every day.

Add Moisture To The Air

When your child is all clogged up, dry air only exacerbates the issue. If the air in your home is especially dry, consider investing in and running a humidifier in the rooms where your child most frequently hangs out. Increasing the moisture in the air will make it easier for your child to breathe.

Keep A Stock of Good Tissues

When your child has a running noise that will just not stop because of their allergies, make sure that you have some nice tissues on hand that have lotion, aloe or vapor rub incorporated into them. This will make the tissue softer and gentler on their nose. If you use cheap and rough tissues, your child's noise may easily get sore, which will only add to their uncomfortableness.

Sooth Your Child's Nose

Even with a stock of good tissues, your child's nose may still get sore from all that blowing. Help ease your child's sensitive nose by rubbing some petroleum jelly on it. You may even want to put some on before your child's nose turns red to prevent it from becoming irritated even further.

Use Wash Clothes

Depending on your child's symptoms, a warm or cold washcloth may help them out. If your child is experiencing a lot of sinus pressure and pain related to their sinuses, a warm washcloth on their face near their nose may help relieve some of that pressure. If your child has really itchy eyes, a cold washcloth over their eyes may help take away some of the pain and urge to itch.
