Why You Should Not Use Lice Removal Treatments For The Wrong Kinds Of Lice

Most people are unaware that there are three kinds of lice that make humans their buffet table. There are head lice, body lice and pubic lice. Each of these types of lice require slightly different chemical treatments, and you should not use the wrong type of chemical treatment to kill off the lice you have. In fact, if you are carrying one or more kinds of lice around on your person, it is important to use more than one medicated lice removal treatments to eradicate these biting pests from your person. Here is why.

The Delivery Method Is Different

The way the medicated shampoos and body washes work to treat lice are different. Medicated shampoo for the head lice help break apart the exoskeletons of the pests so that the chemical used to kill them can get inside their bodies faster. It also permeates the shells of the nits (eggs) and kills the larvae before they hatch. With the treatment for the body lice, the chemical in it adds a pesticide to the skin that enters the lice and kills them after they bite. Then the body lice fall off because (being dead) they are unable to cling to the body anymore.

Lice removal treatments for pubic lice (crabs) involve shaving or waxing your entire pubic area bald and then thoroughly washing your groin with a medicated wash that will not endanger the PH balance of a woman's genitalia or cause urinary tract infections if it accidentally enters the urethra. To use a different lice treatment for pubic lice puts your genitals and your urinary tract at risk for infections. Then you would have to go to the doctor to treat that problem.

The Process Is Different

For head lice, you generally use a lice comb to remove as many of the live lice and nits as you can spot and comb out before you use the medicated shampoo to kill anything you missed. Body lice will require that you shave off any long body hair prior to using the medicated body wash and you make sure that the body wash gets into every last fold and crease in your flesh so that the lice cannot crawl away and hide. For pubic lice, your groin has to be shaved or waxed and you have to repeat this part of the process until the pests are eliminated from your bed, your groin and your clothes. The medicated pubic wash is more or less a precautionary to kill any lice that are hiding in the folds of your genitals. If you mix up these processes because you follow the instructions for the wrong treatment, you may get quite disastrous results.
